CYGNUS of the SEAS was custom designed and built for her original and highly experienced owners. With well over a 100,000 offshore nautical miles aboard their earlier sailing yachts they had the experience to have CYGNUS created to be a safe, economical, and simple to maintain trawler yacht for a couple and occasional guests for all seasons ocean, coastal and inland cruising. The mast can be easily lowered with its tabernacle, so she has an absolute minimum air-draft of just 10′-1/2″ (3m) to transit the European canal system, or the Great Loop. Entirely built of aluminium to American Bureau of Shipping Rules, CYGNUS is well suited for ice choked high latitude voyaging as amply demonstrated by cruise to Greenland. She features wide side decks protected by 36″ (90cm) high rails, three watertight compartments, a simple yet effective passive anti-roll Flume tank for underway and at anchor stabilization and the ability to recover from a 360 degree roll over. The raised foredeck extends the full width of the vessel that provides the greatest possible interior space forward, the largest open foredeck area, the greatest forward freeboard and the most reserve buoyancy. For emergency navigation, the vessel is equipped with two sails, a tiller and a drogue. A four-person top end life raft (Winslow) is also included. During 2019 and 2020 CYGNUS completed a refit where many systems were overhauled or replaced. She is now ready for her next owners to step aboard and fulfil their cruising ambitions.

CYGNUS’s general arrangement was carefully conceived for extended cruising and living aboard with both natural and forced air ventilation. Two air conditioning systems cover saloon, galley, cabins, and wheelhouse. Heat is provided by either an Espar 28,000 BTU diesel furnace, a reverse-cycle air-con or a Heater Craft bus heater using waste engine heat. The interior joinery has been beautifully executed in light oak with varnished cherry soles throughout. There are strong handholds, fiddles and 12″ (30cm) exterior door thresholds as befits a vessel meant to go to sea. Headroom throughout the accommodations is not less than 6′-6″ (2m). The large master stateroom is forward with a centerline island queen berth followed by a guest cabin / office to starboard and a large head to port with generous stall shower. The companionway leads up to the wheelhouse with excellent visibility and access to the side decks through watertight Dutch doors. Access to the engine room is through hatches in the sole. Aft down two steps is the galley to starboard complete with a clothes washer and abundant storage. The saloon is aft with port and starboard settees, a centerline large drop-leaf light oak dining table and a convenient pass through to the galley. A watertight Dutch door leads to the aft working deck.
